Michael Carrick faces a critical test as Manchester United travel to Chelsea following eight games without a win. The interim manager's high-pressing tactics have backfired, leaving United exposed defensively. Carrick must find solutions quickly to revive their season.
Key issues include a lack of defensive compactness, poor pressing coordination, and the controversial omission of Bruno Fernandes. United have won possession 52 times high up the pitch but failed to convert any into shots. A more disciplined, compact approach similar to their performance against Leeds could help.
Restoring Fernandes to the starting lineup is also vital for creativity and leadership. With Chelsea next, tactical adjustments are essential to halt United's decline.
