McIlroy's 'Complete Performance' Fuels Open Prep

Rory McIlroy fired a first-round 65 at the Genesis Scottish Open, labeling it a 'complete performance' as he fine-tunes his game for The Open Championship. The Northern Irishman displayed improved driving accuracy, hitting nine of 13 fairways, and a sharp putter, including an 18-foot eagle putt on the first hole. This strong showing comes after a tied-32nd finish at the US Open.

McIlroy, who feels liberated after achieving the career Grand Slam last year, insists he remains driven and isn't complacent. He views his golf journey as continuous, with ongoing goals to pursue. His reduced schedule this season, featuring only four events since his Masters win in April, has allowed for more practice and personal time, contributing to his current form.

The world number three will begin his second round alongside Robert MacIntyre and Chris Gotterup at 1:43 PM. Sky Sports will provide comprehensive coverage of both the Genesis Scottish Open and The Open Championship, with live broadcasts beginning Friday for the Scottish Open and July 16 for The Open.
