Newcastle United is reportedly set to appoint German coach Matthias Jaissle as their new head coach on Saturday. The club has agreed to pay £9.5m (€11m) in compensation to Saudi side Al Ahli for Jaissle, who previously managed Red Bull Salzburg.

Jaissle, 38, is expected to sign a four-year contract and will meet his new players in Spain on Saturday. This move follows the official confirmation of Eddie Howe's departure as head coach on Friday. The delay in Howe's statement was to ensure the Jaissle deal was finalized.

Howe, who managed Newcastle for nearly five years, stated it was the "privilege of my lifetime" to lead the club. He cited a need to "recharge and take a break." His coaching staff, including Jason Tindall and Graeme Jones, will also depart. Captain Bruno Guimaraes praised Howe as the "king of this club."
