Manchester United are not ruling out signing Ederson this summer, despite a breakdown in the deal over a medical issue. While the club denied the deal was off, it will not proceed at the initial price and structure, though United may return for the Brazilian later in the window.

United had agreed a £38m deal with Atalanta and personal terms with the player in June. However, a medical conducted last week concluded in United not proceeding on the current agreed terms. The club is understood to be extremely sympathetic to the player and his family.

In the meantime, United have turned their attention to other targets. They are closing in on the £36m signing of Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa after agreeing a £50m transfer for Andrey Santos with Chelsea last week. They are also set to announce the signing of free-agent goalkeeper Karl Darlow following his departure from Leeds.
