Manchester City have struck a deal with Nottingham Forest for midfielder Elliot Anderson, with the fee surpassing their £100m club record paid for Jack Grealish. Forest have granted permission for Anderson to undergo a medical, though scheduling conflicts exist with England's World Cup campaign.

Anderson currently represents England at the World Cup, starting both Group L matches ahead of Saturday's finale against Panama. The 23-year-old, contracted to Forest until 2029, became one of the Premier League's standout midfielders last season after joining from Newcastle in 2024. City made an initial approach in early June that was rejected before returning with a successful offer.

England manager Thomas Tuchel praised Anderson as the 'full package' and confirmed he remains focused despite City's interest. The midfielder delivered an 'amazing performance' against Costa Rica, according to Tuchel, who declined to comment on specifics of the transfer.

Forest are preparing for Anderson's departure by targeting two central midfield replacements. They maintain interest in Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall and Inter Milan's Davide Frattesi, valued at approximately €30m, plus Celtic's Arne Engels, who they pursued in January.
