Justin Rose urges Jon Rahm to pay DP World Tour fines

Justin Rose has called on Jon Rahm to settle his outstanding DP World Tour fines to maintain his Ryder Cup eligibility. The Spaniard has refused to sign an agreement that would have granted him permission to play in conflicting tournaments on LIV Golf without financial penalty. Eight DP World Tour members, including Tyrrell Hatton, accepted the offer to retain their membership status.

Rahm accused the DP World Tour last month of "extorting players" after rejecting the terms. The deal required players to pay outstanding fines for breaching regulations and withdraw all pending appeals. Rose believes Rahm should view the fines as "a cost of doing business" given his success on LIV Golf, where he's been winning and earning substantial money. He suggested there might be "middle ground" regarding the requirement to play additional DP World Tour events.

Rose also revealed he had discussions about potentially becoming Team Europe's next Ryder Cup captain before Luke Donald was confirmed for a historic third stint in the role. The 2013 US Open champion emphasized that playing remains his priority, stating "nothing trumps playing" and expressing his desire to compete in future Ryder Cups as a player rather than captain.
