Jos Verstappen escaped unhurt after a dramatic crash during the Rallye de Wallis in Belgium on Sunday. The father of Formula One champion Max Verstappen lost control at the Loyers special stage and collided with a tree while running third in the event.

The 54-year-old, who is the reigning national rally champion, was competing without his usual co-driver Renaud Jamoul, unavailable following ankle surgery. Jasper Vermeulen filled the role for this year's edition. Organizers confirmed the crash on social media, describing it as the car having "violently gone off the road this morning."

Images from the scene showed extensive damage to the vehicle, though both Verstappen and Vermeulen walked away without injuries. The incident ended his participation in the event after a strong start through the opening stages.
