John Harbaugh has agreed to a five-year deal to become the next head coach of the New York Giants. The 63-year-old was fired by the Baltimore Ravens after an 8-9 season, ending an 18-year tenure that included a Super Bowl win and 12 playoff appearances.

The Giants, who fired Brian Daboll in November, beat out the Atlanta Falcons and Tennessee Titans for Harbaugh's signature. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the contract will make Harbaugh one of the league's highest-paid coaches, a significant investment for a historic franchise seeking a turnaround.

Harbaugh's move to the NFC creates a potential family reunion, as his brother Jim coaches the Los Angeles Chargers. John previously beat Jim in Super Bowl XLVII when Jim led the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants now have a veteran leader to rebuild a team with four Super Bowl titles.
