The 40-year-old faces unbeaten Artem Suslenkov on July 11 in Moscow, needing a victory to stay relevant in the heavyweight division. Joyce's ambition remains despite recent struggles that have derailed his championship aspirations.

Their first encounter in 2020 saw Joyce hand Dubois his first professional defeat, stopping him after severe damage. That win propelled Joyce toward a WBO Interim title, though subsequent defeats to Zhilei Zhang, Filip Hrgovic and Derek Chisora have stalled his progress. Meanwhile, Dubois has rebounded to become a two-time world champion with victories over Anthony Joshua and Fabio Wardley.

Joyce acknowledges the Zhang fight was a mistake that cost him momentum. He told Sky Sports the rematch represents unfinished business, claiming he can still compete at the highest level. The British heavyweight insists his year away from the ring has been productive, with intensive training and learning.

Before any championship talks, Joyce must navigate Suslenkov on the Murat Gassiev-Tony Yoka undercard. A loss would effectively end any immediate hopes of challenging Dubois, who now holds the WBO belt that Joyce once pursued.
