Turkey will reappear on the Formula 1 calendar starting 2027 thanks to a new five-year deal. Istanbul Park last hosted in 2020 and 2021 when Covid-19 reshuffled the schedule. Its return adds another historic venue to next year's roster, joining Portimao as tracks coming back while others exit. This move solidifies the calendar's recovery and variety.

Negotiations secured this major homecoming for the circuit known for its high-speed Turn 8 complex. F1 president Stefano Domenicali praised Istanbul as a cultural gateway offering a blend of history and forward-thinking sport. The track's challenging nature tests drivers' necks, recalling past dramatic races with collisions and chaotic weather that decided championships.

The arrangement means 24 tracks now have contracts for 2027, matching recent calendar sizes. Potential new events remain distant as early additions are unlikely before 2028. Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan framed this as proof of confidence in the nation's infrastructure. This extension cements the sport's stability in the region.
