Ipswich Town have secured promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt following a 3-0 victory over QPR at Portman Road. Goals from George Hirst, Jaden Philogene and Kasey McAteer sealed an immediate return to the top flight, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters. The Tractor Boys needed only a draw given other results going their way, but made sure of promotion with a commanding display.

Hirst opened the scoring in the third minute after a slick passing move involving Azor Matusiwa, Jack Taylor, Philogene and Leif Davis. Philogene doubled the lead six minutes later, finishing from close range after good work from Wes Burns, Marcelino Nunez and Hirst. McAteer added the third in the 85th minute to turn the stadium into a party zone.

The club returns to the Premier League after just one season in the Championship, joining champions Coventry. Manager Kieran McKenna told Sky Sports: "It's probably been the hardest one. I know how hard we've had to work to turn it around. To have the third promotion in four years at home on a sunny May day is perfect."
