South Korean golfer Hyo-Joo Kim held off a furious charge from world No 2 Nelly Korda to win the Fortinet Founders Cup in California. Kim entered the final round with a five-shot lead but saw it erased after 10 holes as Korda made six birdies. The American then struggled down the stretch, carding six pars and two bogeys, including a costly three-putt at 17.

Despite bogeying two of her final three holes, Kim finished at 16 under par for a one-shot victory, securing her eighth LPGA Tour title. The 30-year-old said the course at Sharon Heights was "pretty tough" after closing with a one-over 63 that featured two back-nine birdies. Kim's win came exactly one year after her previous LPGA title at the Ford Championship.

Korda was aiming for her second LPGA win in as many starts this year after skipping the Asian Swing. She said the missed opportunity at 17 "stings" but remains positive about next week's tournament. Meanwhile, Hannah Green enters major season as the hottest player on tour, having won three times in three starts in March, including back-to-back victories in Australia.
