Gaelic Warrior delivered a dominant eight-length victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, but the race was marred by tragedy when Envoi Allen collapsed and died after crossing the finish line. The Willie Mullins-trained 11/4 favorite, ridden by Paul Townend, swept past Nicky Henderson's Jango Baie to secure the prestigious National Hunt crown for owner Rich Ricci.

This marked Mullins' fifth Gold Cup triumph, adding to his previous successes with Al Boum Photo and Galopin Des Champs. The victory completed a remarkable Cheltenham Festival for Ricci, who had already won the Champion Hurdle earlier in the week. Townend also secured the Champion Chase, making it an exceptional treble for the jockey.

In other notable results, Dinoblue successfully defended her Mrs Paddy Power Mares' Chase title, while Apolon De Charnie shocked the crowd with a 50/1 victory in the JCB Triumph Hurdle. The O'Neill team celebrated a family affair when Wilful won the William Hill County Handicap Hurdle, with father Jonjo and sons Jonjo Jr and AJ combining for the 14/1 success.
