Frankie Terry says football has always been the family business. His dad Paul played for Dagenham & Redbridge, Yeovil and Leyton Orient, where he now works as assistant to Richie Wellens. His maternal uncle Paul Konchesky earned two England caps and made 347 Premier League appearances for clubs including Charlton, West Ham, Tottenham, Fulham, Liverpool and Leicester. His paternal uncle John Terry captained Chelsea and England, playing over 700 times for the Blues and winning 78 Three Lions caps.

He joined Colchester from Leyton Orient at 15 and, at 22, is now part of the first‑team picture in north Essex. After early U21 football, he went on loan to Maldon & Tiptree, then Chelmsford City where he was named Supporters’ Young Player of the Year, followed by spells at Aveley, Braintree Town and Yeovil. A loan return to Braintree in 2023/24 saw him play 26 games, scoring twice, before being recalled in December. Limited early League Two opportunities gave way to an uninterrupted run from April 4 to the season’s end, during which Colchester won four of seven games and kept two clean sheets.

Terry wants at least double the League Two appearances he earned last season, aims to establish himself as a regular starter and dreams of playing in the Premier League. He acknowledges the advice and example of his footballing family but stresses that he must step onto the pitch and perform himself, letting his football do the talking.
