Veteran striker Ched Evans scored the only goal of the game, giving Fleetwood Town a 1-0 win over Chesterfield. The win follows a similar result last week in the Carabao Cup.

Evans fired a shot that narrowly missed from close range and Will Davies saw his effort beaten away by keeper Ryan Boot before the decisive goal, which arrived in the 35th minute. It was a superb strike, with Evans sending an audacious lob over Boot from around 30 yards out.

Lee Bonis came closest for the home side before the break, putting a low shot wide and then heading off target from a good position. Lewis McCann threatened a second, forcing a save from Boot after running at the defence, while Jay Lynch protected the lead with a smart save from Fraser Bryden.

Chesterfield dominated possession but failed to force an equaliser as Fleetwood defended resolutely, keeping the lead. The result sets up their next fixtures in League Two.
