Derby stun QPR with late comeback to keep play-off hopes alive

Jaydon Banel's 88th-minute winner sealed a dramatic comeback for Derby, who twice came from behind to beat QPR 3-2 at Loftus Road. Harvey Vale opened the scoring for the home side before Oscar Fraulo equalised with his first goal for the club. Richard Kone restored QPR's lead with his 10th league goal of the season, but Sondre Langas hauled Derby level again to set up Banel's late strike - his third goal in five matches.

The victory was especially valuable given Derby's terrible away record - they had lost their previous three matches on the road and six of their past seven. John Eustace's side will finish the season eighth in the Championship table and remain in play-off contention going into the final weekend.

QPR's afternoon went from bad to worse when forward Rumarn Burrell went off injured, leaving them with 10 men after using all substitutions. Derby now need Coventry to lose to Wrexham on Sunday to have any chance of sneaking into the play-offs. The dramatic finish at Loftus Road keeps their slim hopes alive, though fate is no longer in their own hands.
