The European side needed dramatic late goals, including an own goal in the 76th minute and a Marko Arnautovic penalty in stoppage time, after Romano Schmid's 21st-minute opener gave them an early lead.

Jordan nearly shocked the world early as Ehsan Haddad hit the crossbar with a volley, but Ali Olwan's 50th-minute equalizer provided the Asian side's first-ever World Cup goal.
