Mikel Arteta has declared he is "100 per cent" confident that Myles Lewis-Skelly will remain an Arsenal player beyond this summer's transfer window.

The teenage midfielder, who started Arsenal's Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in May, has attracted interest from both Chelsea and Manchester United. Arteta, speaking ahead of the Premier League opener against Coventry, emphasised the value of academy graduates: "The players that have been raised in our system and they feel that love and connection with the club, it brings something else."

Arteta also addressed speculation around potential departures involving Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Ethan Nwaneri, stating that difficult conversations are necessary but must be handled with honesty and respect. "Everything has a start and an end. When it ends, our job and duty is to do it in the best possible way."

Regarding Arsenal's reputation for player sales, Arteta noted that decisions depend on a range of factors including player ability, contract status and willingness to move. "It's not bad or good. It's what you have in relation to what you have to the options that you have to sell."
