Martin Zubimendi may push to leave Arsenal in January after losing his starting spot under Mikel Arteta, with Chelsea and Madrid reportedly interested in the 27-year-old Spanish international. Everton have played down a move for free agent Anthony Martial, 30, who last played for Monterrey in Mexico. Crystal Palace forward Eddie Nketiah is considering switching allegiance to Ghana from England.

Chelsea's majority owners, Clearlake Capital, are closing in on an agreement to buy out co-owners Todd Boehly and Mark Walter. Richarlison is seeking to terminate his contract at Tottenham after being left out of their Premier League squad. Sunderland and Aston Villa summer target Kevin Viveros is set to sign a new contract with Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense.

In the EFL, Leicester City face financial 'Armageddon' without fresh capital, says their prospective new owner. In tennis, US Open chief Craig Tiley vowed to keep the same day and night format despite Ben Shelton beating Carlos Alcaraz at 3:33am local time.
