Liverpool manager Arne Slot remains optimistic about the club's future despite a disappointing Premier League title defence. The Reds, who won their record-equalling 20th top-flight title last season, have struggled this campaign, sitting outside the Champions League places with nine league defeats already. Fenway Sports Group invested £446m in new signings to bolster the squad.

Slot acknowledges this season has been 'much more of a struggle' than last year's triumphant campaign. The Dutchman points to recent improvements and believes the team's best performances are still to come. 'These players will be able to improve much more in the upcoming years,' Slot told Sky Sports, emphasizing that successful teams typically play together for extended periods.

Liverpool face a crucial match against struggling Tottenham Hotspur, with the Reds level on points with fifth-placed Chelsea. Despite losing at Wolves in their last league outing, Slot insists the squad is progressing. 'If you look at the last two months, I think there are more positives in terms of results than negatives,' he said. The manager believes individual players are showing improvement and that consistency will come with time.
