Fernando Alonso's future in Formula 1 remains uncertain as he weighs retirement or a new contract to stay in F1 in 2027. A day after Alonso's comments, FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem intervened, stating he wants to accelerate Honda's engine development to keep the two-time world champion. Ben Sulayem met with Aston Martin's Lawrence Stroll and pledged to make changes, declaring it unacceptable for Alonso to leave due to performance circumstances. The FIA president aims to work with the Power Unit Advisory Committee to assist Honda, potentially altering ADUO rules beyond the Internal Combustion Engine. Honda has utilized one of two engine upgrade opportunities this year, has at least two more for 2027, and received an extra £14m development budget. Ben Sulayem vowed to speak with Alonso about his future, acknowledging the driver's sadness regarding his home Grand Prix performance.
