Kennedy Wesley scored her first international goal and added an assist as the United States women's national team defeated Japan 3-0 in a frigid friendly at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado. The Americans dominated the first half with a 9-1 shot advantage but couldn't convert until after halftime.

Wesley, coming on as a halftime substitute for Tierna Davidson, set up Naomi Girma's opening goal in the 47th minute with a header from the left post. Rose Lavelle doubled the lead in the 56th minute, finishing a through ball from Trinity Rodman. Lavelle has now been involved in 10 goals across her last 10 games, scoring five and assisting five. Wesley capped the scoring in the 64th minute with a volley off a corner kick from Jaedyn Shaw.

Japan lost Hikaru Kitagawa to injury in the 25th minute and played in subfreezing temperatures following a snowfall earlier in the day. This victory completed an unusual three-game series between the teams, with the United States winning the first 2-1 in San Jose before Japan snapped a 10-game U.S. winning streak with a 1-0 victory in Seattle on Tuesday.
