ESPN has compiled a ranking of the top 30 men's club managers in Europe, covering legends nearing retirement, emerging talents and those in between. The list was built from an initial pool of about 50 candidates narrowed to 30, then vetted by industry experts such as coaches, sporting directors, CEOs and chief scouts.

Managers are judged on six attributes: coaching acumen, style, people management, communication, history/achievements and the X factor. Scores are out of 10, with total points determining rank; equal totals are broken by history/achievements then X factor.

Ruben Amorim (41) of AC Milan earned a 56/100 total, having transformed Sporting CP into back‑to‑back Portuguese champions with his 3‑4‑2‑1 system before a brief, tactical‑rigid spell at Manchester United. Regis Le Bris (50) of Sunderland (57/100) revived the club from Championship relegation to a seventh‑place Premier League finish, while Pierre Sage (47) of Crystal Palace (58/100) guided Lens to a Ligue 1 title challenge and a first Coupe de France.

Other notable names include Paulo Fonseca (53) at Lyon, who rescued the club from relegation, while managers like Thiago Motta and Xavi were excluded for being out of work over a year.
