Sergio Ramos is spearheading a consortium backed by Five Eleven Capital to take over his boyhood club Sevilla, with the former Spain defender confirming progress in the acquisition process that began at the end of 2025. "I think there will be some news in a few months, or even weeks, and we hope it will be the news we're all hoping for," Ramos said Tuesday in Seville.

The 40-year-old, who left Mexican club Rayados de Monterrey in December, has not yet announced his retirement. However, Spanish regulations would force him to hang up his boots or continue his career outside Spain if he gains direct ownership of a LaLiga club. "I'm feeling great. I'm spending a lot of time with my family at the moment and am really enjoying it," he added.

Sevilla, who have won just nine and lost 15 of their 31 league games this season, sit two places and two points clear of the drop zone with seven games remaining. Former sporting director Monchi has expressed support for the initiative, lending credibility to a project that has generated excitement among fans desperate for change after years of instability.
