Pulisic's Fitness Race Continues Ahead of USMNT World Cup Clash

Christian Pulisic trained separately from the main group on Wednesday as he battles a calf injury ahead of the United States' World Cup match against Australia. The Chelsea winger aggravated the injury during Friday's 4-1 victory over Paraguay and missed Tuesday's session entirely, making Wednesday's individual work a small step forward.

With roughly 48 hours until kickoff in Seattle, Pulisic's availability remains uncertain. By contrast, defender Chris Richards had already resumed full training a week ago after a similar ankle issue. Teammates including Antonee Robinson expressed confidence in the squad's depth, noting several capable replacements exist if needed.

Midfielder Brenden Aaronson, who could start if Pulisic cannot play, emphasized his preparation remains unchanged regardless of selection decisions. Timothy Weah, Giovanni Reyna, and Alejandro Zendejas also provide attacking options for coach Gregg Berhalter.

The USMNT faces Australia needing points to advance from Group D. Pulisic's absence would represent a significant blow given his importance to the attack, though the team showed resilience scoring four goals without him against Paraguay.
