Ange Postecoglou has called Thomas Frank's sacking by Tottenham Hotspur a 'fair departure' but criticised the club's lack of vision and identity. Frank left Spurs on Wednesday after a dismal run of form that has left them just five points above the relegation zone, with only two wins in their last 17 Premier League matches.

Postecoglou, who was sacked by Spurs himself last summer before a brief spell at Nottingham Forest, sympathised with Frank working in an 'environment of uncertainty' following chairman Daniel Levy's departure. The Australian coach questioned the club's thinking behind another managerial change, asking what Frank's objectives were when he arrived at a club that hasn't 'competed on all fronts for a very long time.'

Postecoglou described Tottenham as a 'curious club' lacking a clear identity since Mauricio Pochettino's departure. He highlighted how the club has cycled through managers with vastly different styles - from Mourinho to Conte to himself - without a coherent vision. The former Celtic boss also emphasised the massive impact of Harry Kane's exit, suggesting that with Kane in his first season at Spurs, they would have finished in Champions League spots rather than fifth.
