Liverpool's 1-0 preseason win over Wrexham at Yankee Stadium highlighted Rio Ngumoha's potential as the 17-year-old scored the winner in the 75th minute. The goal, though deflected, underscored his knack for decisive moments after a breakout season at Anfield.

The performance comes amid reports Liverpool are preparing a bid for PSG's Bradley Barcola, 23, to replace Mohamed Salah. Jamie Carragher questioned the logic of signing another left-sided attacker when Liverpool lack right-wing options. Andoni Iraola's decision to deploy Ngumoha on the right against Wrexham suggests the teenager could fill that void.

Ngumoha, signed from Chelsea in 2024, became Liverpool's youngest-ever starter and Premier League goalscorer last season. Thomas Tuchel called him up to train with England ahead of the World Cup. Iraola, known for developing youth, will likely manage his minutes carefully, as Arne Slot did.

With Hugo Ekitike injured and Víctor Muñoz (£34.5 million) joining later, Liverpool may still need attacking reinforcements. Youngsters Kieran Morrison and Lewis Koumas also impressed, but Ngumoha remains the standout prospect as he adapts to senior football.
