Neymar has been left out of Brazil's squad for March friendlies as his World Cup hopes dim. Coach Carlo Ancelotti excluded the Santos forward from matches against France and Croatia, citing fitness concerns. The 34-year-old hasn't played for the national team since tearing his ACL in October 2023, and his recent performance against Corinthians failed to impress.

Endrick earned his first call-up since Ancelotti took over, scoring six goals in 12 appearances for Lyon since joining from Real Madrid. The squad also features Brentford's Igor Thiago earning his debut call-up and Barcelona's Raphinha alongside Real Madrid's Vinícius Júnior leading the attack. Veteran Casemiro returns to the midfield despite Lucas Paquetá's absence.

Ancelotti emphasized that Neymar could still make the World Cup roster if he regains full fitness by May 18. Brazil's final friendlies before the tournament will test the team's readiness for their June 13 opener against Morocco. The five-time champions face Scotland and Haiti in Group C, with Ancelotti focused on building the best possible squad for their World Cup campaign.
