Former Liverpool and Belgium goalkeeper Simon Mignolet will retire at the end of the current season. The 38-year-old veteran will conclude his professional playing career on May 24 when Club Brugge faces KAA Gent on the final day of Belgian league playoffs. Mignolet expressed determination to give his all until his final moment with the club where he's served since 2019 after departing Anfield.

Mignolet's distinguished career includes 200+ appearances for Liverpool, where he won Champions League glory as backup to Alisson. The Belgian custodian represented his country 35 times across three World Cups and two European Championships before retiring from international soccer in 2023. His journey also included stints with Sunderland and St. Truiden before joining Club Brugge where he's been a consistent presence between the sticks for seven seasons.

Following his retirement, Mignolet will transition to a management role at the Belgian Football Association this September. The decision caps a remarkable career marked by consistency and dedication across multiple clubs. Brugge aims to finish strong with Mignolet between the sticks as they pursue championship honors in their remaining fixtures.
