Enzo Maresca praised Manchester City's unity after the club's hierarchy showed a united front during Sunday's 3-0 victory over Liverpool at Anfield. The win came in City's first match since an independent commission found them guilty of 114 breaches of the Premier League's financial rules. City CEO Ferran Soriano was in the directors box alongside director of football Hugo Viana, and Maresca lauded the senior figures' support for the team. "Ferran was there, Hugo was there," the City boss said. "We were all together.
It's togetherness that in this moment we need." Maresca reflected on how his players handled the external noise in recent weeks, noting they dealt with the situation well. He emphasized the need to learn how to deal with outside noise while making their own noise by winning games. "To win at Anfield is a great result, for sure. In this moment, all of the organisation needs this kind of a win." City have appealed the independent commission's verdict, though a full resolution timeline remains unclear.
Maresca expressed his happiness with the victory and said he hopes to discuss the situation further when they win the appeal.
