Inter Milan's Bastoni Investigated for Child Solicitation Allegations

Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni faces investigation by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office for allegedly soliciting sex from a 17-year-old girl in June 2020. The 27-year-old Italian international has been summoned to appear before prosecutors Friday as part of a broader inquiry into an alleged sex ring.

Bastoni's lawyer, Salvatore Scuto, denied the allegations, stating his client is "very shaken" and ruling out any paid sexual relations with minors. Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports the woman admitted staying at Bastoni's house but denied having sex with the player. The case emerges during a turbulent period for Bastoni, who was sent off during Italy's World Cup qualifying playoff loss to Bosnia-Herzegovina.

That defeat cost Italy a third consecutive World Cup appearance, with Bastoni receiving social media abuse afterward following a controversial incident against Juventus on February 14. The defender's attempts to influence the match outcome backfired, resulting in public condemnation rather than the intended penalty.

The investigation places Bastoni's career and Inter Milan's reputation under scrutiny during a critical Serie A season. His absence from Italy's defense creates uncertainty for future matches while the legal process unfolds.
