Harry Kane: Too Soon to Decide World Cup Future After Argentina Loss

Harry Kane said it's "too soon" to decide if Tuesday's 2-1 World Cup semifinal loss to Argentina was his final tournament with England. The Three Lions led 1-0 through Anthony Gordon in the 55th minute but switched to a defensive shape, allowing Argentina to equalize via Enzo Fernández in the 85th minute before Lautaro Martínez headed home a Lionel Messi cross in injury time.

"It's a similar story to what's happened in previous tournaments," Kane said, referencing semifinal exits in 2018 and 2022, plus Euros final defeats in 2021 and 2024. "We managed momentum for 60 minutes... then struggled to be on the ball."

Kane, 33, will be 36 by the next World Cup but insisted he's "taking it year by year." Defender Dan Burn admitted England became "too passive" after Tuchel's substitutions shifted the side to a back five. "We dropped off and were ultimately punished."
