Villarreal goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi missed his team's Champions League match against Napoli on Tuesday after an armed home invasion at his residence, the club confirmed.
The incident occurred just before kickoff, leaving the Hungarian international unavailable for selection. Villarreal did not release further details about the break-in or whether anyone was injured.
Gulácsi, 34, joined Villarreal in 2023 after a long stint at RB Leipzig. He has been the club's first-choice goalkeeper in his debut season, making several crucial saves in European competition.
Villarreal went on to face Napoli without their shot-stopper between the posts. The team has not commented on Gulácsi's current condition or expected timeline for his return to action.
