Girona coach Michel Sánchez has expressed confidence in his ability to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City if the opportunity arises. The 50-year-old Spanish tactician, who has led Girona since 2021, told 'La Otra Grada' podcast that he feels prepared to coach any team at the highest level.

Michel's comments come as Guardiola faces uncertainty about his future at City. The 55-year-old Catalan will celebrate his 10th year at the Etihad this summer but has a contract only through June 2027. Following City's 5-1 aggregate Champions League defeat to Real Madrid, questions about Guardiola's long-term plans have intensified.

The Girona manager, who began his coaching career at Rayo Vallecano, has proven his credentials with impressive results. He guided Girona to promotion in his first season and was named LaLiga manager of the season in 2023-24 after securing a third-place finish and Champions League qualification. His team recently defeated Barcelona 2-1 and held Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw.

Michel is preparing for a potential move to the Premier League by working with an English teacher. The Catalan club's connection to City through the City Football Group makes such a transition plausible, though Michel acknowledged the significant difference between coaching Girona and a club of City's stature.
