The organization announced Friday that spectators can now carry one soft, plastic, 20-ounce factory-sealed disposable water bottle into any match venue in the USA and Canada.

The policy flip comes after FIFA initially updated its stadium rules to prohibit all reusable bottles, citing safety concerns about potential projectiles. However, temperatures exceeding 90 Fahrenheit in host cities like New York, Mexico City and Toronto sparked outrage among fan groups who called the move a blatant cash grab.
