Canada's coach Jesse Marsch defended his team's style after Tajon Buchanan received a red card in a third consecutive game during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Iceland in Toronto. Buchanan was sent off in the 80th minute for an elbow to the head of midfielder Mikael Ellertsson as the ball rolled out of play.

Marsch insisted Canada is 'not a dirty team' despite the ejection, which marked the fourth red card in eight games. 'We're physical, we play hard, but we're not a dirty team,' Marsch said, noting he disagreed with the dismissal. Jonathan David scored twice from the penalty spot to help Canada rally from a 2-0 deficit, with Orri Óskarsson netting both goals for Iceland.

Canada, ranked 29th and preparing to co-host the 2026 World Cup with the United States and Mexico, salvaged a draw against No. 74 Iceland, which failed to qualify for the tournament. The game also featured a debut for Marcelo Flores, who recently completed a one-time switch from Mexico. Canada faces Tunisia on Tuesday in another exhibition as players compete for roster spots with the World Cup just 75 days away.
