Manchester United have told Barcelona they must pay the full transfer fee for Marcus Rashford if they want to keep the striker permanently, sources have told ESPN. The LaLiga club has an option to make the England forward's move permanent for a pre-agreed fee believed to be between €30 million and €35 million.

Rashford joined Barcelona on a season-long loan last summer after being frozen out at Old Trafford under former manager Ruben Amorim. The 28-year-old has impressed at Camp Nou, scoring 10 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions. Despite new manager Michael Carrick taking charge at United, sources indicate the club's stance on Rashford has not changed.

Sources say Rashford wants to remain in Spain, but United are unwilling to renegotiate the terms of the deal. The striker is under contract at Old Trafford until 2028 after signing a long-term extension in 2023. His best season for United came during the 2019-20 campaign under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who had Carrick on his staff at the time.
