Alexia Putellas confirmed she will leave Barcelona when her contract expires this summer, ending a 14‑year spell that saw the club transform from a modest side into a European powerhouse. She capped her tenure with a 4‑0 victory over OL Lyon in the UWCL final, earning Player of the Season honours. The win secured a quadruple—Champions League, Liga F, Copa de la Reina and Supercopa.

During her 14 seasons, Putellas amassed 38 trophies, 10 league crowns and four European Cups, scoring 232 goals from midfield—more than any woman except Lionel Messi in club history. Teammate Irene Paredes called her the “motor” behind Barça’s rise, while president‑elect Joan Laporta praised her impact beyond the pitch. Her departure coincides with a shrinking squad as other stars seek new challenges.

Barça also confirmed full‑back Ona Batlle and defender Mapi León will join Arsenal and London City Lionesses respectively, while forward Salma Paralluelo and winger Caroline Graham Hansen remain undecided. Coach Pere Romeu’s contract is under review, adding further uncertainty. With the core of a record‑setting team dispersing, the club must rely on emerging talent to maintain its dominance in domestic and European competition.
