Audi Field in Washington, D.C., will host the 2026 NWSL Championship on November 21, marking the venue's second time hosting the league's premier event in four years. The Washington Spirit's home stadium previously held the 2022 final, where Portland Thorns defeated Kansas City Current 2-0 before over 17,000 fans.

NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman praised D.C. as a premier destination for women's soccer, citing the city's engaged fan base and vibrant soccer culture. The Spirit are averaging over 15,000 fans per game this season at the venue known as 'Rowdy Audi' for its loud atmosphere, with all three weekend home matches drawing announced sellouts of 19,215 spectators.

Spirit CEO Kim Stone called the hosting opportunity an incredible honor for fans and the city, emphasizing that Audi Field ranks among the country's best soccer atmospheres. Washington finished as runners-up in each of the past two finals played in San Jose and Kansas City, making this return to D.C. particularly meaningful for the franchise.

The league has used predetermined venues since 2015 rather than having the highest-seeded team host, allowing for week-long championship celebrations. Berman has indicated interest exists from several major markets for future events, treating the championship as a Super Bowl-style gathering that benefits entire communities.
