Mikel Arteta has praised new signing Bruno Guimarães as a "warrior" who can "ignite something different" at Arsenal. The £75 million midfielder joined from Newcastle and was welcomed by fans before Arsenal's 3-2 Emirates Cup loss to Borussia Dortmund. Arteta highlighted Guimarães' leadership, quality and intuition, saying he will push teammates and add a new spark.

Arsenal, fresh from their first Premier League title in 22 years, also reached the Champions League and Carabao Cup finals last season. Guimarães watched as Arsenal fell to Dortmund, with goals from Ethan Nwaneri and Viktor Gyokeres cancelled out by Samuele Inácio, Konstantinos Karetsas and Joane Gadou. Arsenal won a penalty shootout 5-4.

Arteta admitted disappointment over defensive lapses but noted positive attacking combinations. Arsenal will face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Aug 16 and open the Premier League against Coventry City on Aug 21.
