Arsenal's Set-Piece Strategy Raises Championship Questions

Arsenal are on track to become the most set-piece-dependent and own-goal-assisted champions in Premier League history. Mikel Arteta’s side has scored 14 league goals from dead-ball situations and benefited from three own goals this season.

The Gunners' reliance on set pieces now accounts for 35% of their Premier League goals, a higher percentage than any title-winning side in the league's history. Their 24 set-piece goals across all competitions lead all top European leagues, per data trends.

If this trend continues, Arsenal could surpass Manchester United’s record for set-piece goals in a single title-winning campaign (23 in 2012-13). They also trail only United’s 1996-97 champions in own-goal frequency among past winners.
