Tottenham have secured Andy Robertson on a free transfer after the Scotland captain left Liverpool, bolstering a defense that needed reinforcement following their narrow escape from relegation. The 32-year-old full-back brings extensive Premier League experience and international pedigree to a squad undergoing significant changes under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Robertson spent nine seasons at Anfield, making 378 appearances and contributing 69 assists while winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and multiple domestic cups. His departure from Liverpool opened the door for Spurs, who previously attempted to sign him in January but saw that move collapse due to Kostas Tsimikas's loan situation. Juventus also showed late interest but failed to complete a deal.

De Zerbi praised Robertson's technical qualities and leadership, highlighting his admiration for Scottish players developed during his time working with Billy Gilmour at Brighton. The Italian manager views Robertson as both a proven winner and someone who can positively influence the dressing room culture at the north London club.

Robertson will compete with Destiny Udogie for the left-back position, providing depth after the youngster struggled with injuries throughout the campaign. Spurs finished 17th in back-to-back seasons, prompting major changes as the club seeks to rebuild under their new managerial structure.
