Minnesota Duluth sophomore forward Max Plante claimed the 2026 Hobey Baker Memorial Award as college hockey's top player. The Detroit Red Wings prospect edged out Denver's Eric Pohlkamp and Michigan's T.J. Hughes in the prestigious honor.

Plante, a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL draft, finished second nationally with 25 goals and third with 52 points. The 20-year-old closed the season on a five-game point streak, contributing an assist in the Bulldogs' NCAA tournament quarterfinal loss to Michigan. He credited his linemates for creating scoring opportunities throughout the season.

Plante's victory marks Minnesota Duluth's seventh Hobey Baker winner in program history. The award adds to his motivation to return next season and play alongside both his brothers - older sibling Zam, a current teammate, and younger brother Victor, who committed to join the program.
