Vegas Golden Knights captain Mark Stone has been placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury, forcing him to miss at least the next two games against Minnesota and Edmonton. The 33-year-old forward sustained the injury during Sunday's 5-0 loss to Pittsburgh after taking a check to his left arm.

This marks the second time this season Stone has been sidelined with an injury, having previously missed 16 games in October and November with a broken finger. Despite the setbacks, Stone was enjoying his best statistical season with 60 points (21 goals, 39 assists) in 43 games, putting him on pace to surpass his career high of 73 points set in 2018-19.

Stone's durability has been a concern throughout his career, with his 66 games played last season representing his highest total since 2018-19. The timing is particularly challenging for the Golden Knights, who have been active ahead of Friday's NHL trade deadline, recently acquiring center Nic Dowd from Washington and forward Cole Smith from Nashville.
