Nathan MacKinnon will play in Game 4 of the Western Conference finals after blocking a shot off his knee in Game 2. Coach Jared Bednar confirmed the Avalanche star is feeling better after a full day off and expects him to play in all situations. Colorado desperately needs MacKinnon's production as they face elimination against the Golden Knights. The Hart Trophy finalist has been a warrior throughout the playoffs.

The Avalanche are also making a change in net, turning to Mackenzie Blackwood for the first time this series. Blackwood replaces Scott Wedgewood, who has struggled with an .877 save percentage. Valeri Nichushkin remains a game-time decision after also being injured in Game 3. Colorado's locker room confidence is high, knowing MacKinnon takes recovery seriously.

MacKinnon leads Colorado in these playoffs with seven goals and 15 points in 12 games. Blackwood hasn't played since giving up three goals on 13 shots in Game 5 of the second round against Minnesota. Coach Bednar believes Blackwood has the ability to steal games if he plays with confidence. The Avalanche face a daunting task needing three straight wins to avoid elimination.
