The New York Islanders have announced plans to relocate their American Hockey League affiliate from Bridgeport, Connecticut to Hamilton, Ontario for the upcoming season. The move requires approval from the AHL Board of Governors and would see the team, currently known as the Bridgeport Islanders, play at TD Coliseum.

TD Coliseum recently completed major renovations and will serve as the new home for the Islanders' top minor-league affiliate. The franchise stated that a team name, logo, and ticketing information for the Hamilton market will be announced later, pending AHL approval. The Islanders' AHL affiliate has been based in Bridgeport for the past 25 years.

Islanders general manager Mathieu Darche expressed enthusiasm about the relocation, citing the support shown by the Hamilton community. The team plans to establish itself in the local area and engage a new generation of hockey fans. The move represents a significant shift for the organization's development pipeline and could impact player development strategies.
