Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Dennis Hull passed away Saturday at age 81, as confirmed by his nephew Bart Hull and the team. Hull played 13 seasons with Chicago and concluded his career with the Detroit Red Wings in 1979-80, appearing in five All-Star Games during his 14-year NHL tenure.

Hull's most memorable achievement came in 1972 when he represented Canada in the Summit Series against the Soviet Union, recording two goals and two assists in four games. While his brother Bobby was barred from the tournament due to WHA commitments, Dennis played alongside Rangers stars Jean Ratelle and Rod Gilbert on Canada's top line.

Over 959 regular-season games, Hull compiled 303 goals and 351 assists for 654 points, adding 67 points in 104 playoff contests. His consistent two-way play earned second-team NHL All-Star honors in 1972-73. Despite strong teams in Chicago, Hull never hoisted the Stanley Cup.

Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz praised Hull's scoring ability, toughness, and intelligence, noting his impact extended beyond statistics. Hull's career spanned an era when the Blackhawks remained Cup contenders but fell short, making his contributions to the franchise and international hockey his enduring legacy.
