Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Omar Khan expressed hope for a swift resolution regarding quarterback Aaron Rodgers' potential return for the 2026 season. Speaking at the NFL combine, Khan indicated that both he and new head coach Mike McCarthy have communicated with Rodgers about his future with the team.

Last season, Rodgers signed a one-year, $13.65 million contract just before mandatory minicamp in June after months of uncertainty. Khan emphasized that the current situation differs from last year's prolonged negotiations, stating that neither side wants to drag out the process. The 42-year-old quarterback previously took a covert visit to Pittsburgh's practice facility in March 2025 before eventually agreeing to terms.

While Khan deferred to Rodgers on whether he's deciding between Pittsburgh and retirement or considering other teams, he made clear the Steelers' position: 'He knows how we feel.' The organization must also address its long-term quarterback situation, with Khan acknowledging they're still searching for their next franchise player since Ben Roethlisberger's retirement. The team has 2025 sixth-round pick Will Howard and veteran Mason Rudolph on the roster as they prepare for the upcoming draft where they hold 12 picks.
