Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III received an invitation from USA Football to attend training camps for the 2026 Team USA flag football squad. The Heisman Trophy winner will compete for a spot that could lead to Olympic competition at the 2028 L.A. Games after the world championships in Germany this summer.

Griffin, the 2011 Heisman winner and 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, played 56 career games across Washington, Cleveland and Baltimore. His NFL career ended after a December 2020 start, and he now works as a Fox Sports broadcaster. The 24 athletes invited to the April training camp include the former No. 2 overall pick who threw for 9,271 yards and 43 touchdowns.

Team USA's current quarterback is Darrell "Hush" Doucette III, who recently led the squad to victory in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. After training camps in April and May, a selection committee will trim the roster to 18 players for a June camp before choosing the 12-athlete team for the world championships in Düsseldorf, Germany from August 13-16.
