Rams Delay Nacua, Garrett Practices

The Los Angeles Rams are taking it day‑at‑a‑time when deciding when wide receiver Puka Nacua will return to practice, head coach Sean McVay said. Nacua left the joint practice against the Dallas Cowboys last Tuesday with a lower‑back injury and still has soreness, so the team does not want to rush him back, possibly until next week.

Defensive end Myles Garrett also missed practice because of swelling in his knee. He worked out off to the side with a training‑staff member, and McVay said the team will wait to decide when Garrett can return, likely next week, erring on the side of caution for a soft‑tissue injury.

McVay stressed that players, no matter how great, need to be 100% healthy before returning, aiming for performance rather than just play. He also discussed defensive tackle Aaron Donald’s workout, noting it’s part of his process to decide whether to come out of retirement, and that this is his second workout this training camp.

The Rams open the season in Melbourne, Australia, on Sept. 10 against the San Francisco 49ers.
